Workshops

The Sydney Kink Festival is glad to announce our Workshop program for 2026! It’s a full day of learning, exploring and refining.

Workshop Day is Saturday, 6th of June – over the King’s Birthday Long Weekend. For the first time, Workshops and Markets will be held at the same place, at The Rex Centre in Potts Point (AKA Kings Cross), so you’ll have plenty of time to learn and to shop!

Presenters this year include professional dominants, kink and sex educators, and well know members of our community.

For those new to Kink – Our two half-day Introductory workshops will help you explore in an open, casual, safe and non-judgemental space to answer the question and give you some practical experience with “I Think I’m Kinky – What Should I Do?” in the morning; followed by more questions, answers and practice in the afternoon with “I Know I’m Kinky – What Next?”. Presenters for these workshops come from a variety of backgrounds, interests and titles and are there to help you discover and refine your kinky self.

For those of you already on your journey, our Deep Dives, led by some of Sydney’s most experienced and professional kinksters, are presenting workshops to refine your skills: Shibari, Flogging, Mummification and Impact for both tops and bottoms.

For everything in-between we have a “smorgasbord” of workshops: Age Play, Pet Play, Leather Care, Latex Care, Online Presence and Safety & First Aid.

I Think I’m Kinky – What Should I Do?
presented by Rake & Sydney Kinksters

Join Rake and members of our local kink community for a beginner-friendly workshop designed for those curious about kink and looking for a welcoming place to start. Presented by new and long-time members of the Sydney kink community, “I Think I’m Kinky…” covers the essentials: what kink actually means, how to find your footing with identities and roles (whether that’s Top, Bottom, Switch, Dom/Sub, or something more fluid), the basic etiquette you’ll need to navigate real-world spaces and making your fantasies your new reality. Not only talk and discussion, the workshop includes two hands-on practicals: an introduction to rope bondage and a beginner’s guide to spanking.

From where to go, to what to wear,  what’s a munch, to how to behave respectfully around others’ dynamics, this workshop gives newcomers the practical knowledge and confidence to step into the community safely and with respect and learn new skills in a safe, guided environment. The perfect prelude to S1nful – the Festival party on Saturday night!

Be sure to look at the afternoon’s workshop “I Know I’m Kinky – Now What?”

About Rake: Rake is a real live, honest-to-goodness ex-boy scout, former schooner (a boat with lots of ropes) sailor and an all-around nice guy. Usually.

On the other hand, he has also been introduced as “an evil genius disguised as a teddy bear”, who now applies his skills for our kind of evil.

And while he strives to be “dangerous” (in all the good ways), he is a longstanding trusted member of our kink community, an experienced kink educator and a polymath of kink!

I Know I’m Kinky – What Next?
presented by Rake, Flisstress & Sydney Kinksters

The second half of our new-to-kink track is a workshop for those ready to dive deeper into the kink – privately or publicly. Led by two experienced community members and featuring a panel of experienced Tops, Bottoms, and Switches, the session explores how to navigate the scene safely and comfortably.

You’ll get an inside look at what’s in two very different toy bags, how to choose quality outfits and gear that last, and how to shop smart at the markets. The afternoon also covers the essentials that underpin every good scene: communication, trust, intention, negotiation, aftercare – and how to put it all into practice for an amazing play experience for both yourself and your partner(s).

Because talking only goes so far, two hands-on practicals will get you ready to play: impact play and sensation play – paddles, whips, blindfolds, gags, oh my!

If the morning’s “I Think I’m Kinky” whetted your appetite, this is the perfect next step…

(More) About Rake: He is always looking for new people to corrupt into the wonderfully evil ways of kink. He’s been in the kink scene for well over 20 years — first in NYC, and now here in Sydney — Rake is a familiar face from Insatiable, Blasphemy, Purgatory, Sigil, Threshold, DARQ, Studio Kink, Tryst, The Chamber, The Sensual Ball, Hellfire, über, HCH, Sanctuary, and other nefarious places. Passionate about education, he has taught workshops on rope, flogging, fire play, and kink theory at über, QC, InVisible Light, Myraid, The Couples Club, The Gathering, Kink On, Studio Kink, and of course the Sydney Kink Festival.

About Flisstress: Meet Fliss (literally short for Flisstress) your sweetly sadistic bratty switch, collector of delightful humans, and enthusiastic curator of mayhem. I believe life is better with good friends, playful mischief, and a little bit of trouble, provided everyone is having fun. If there’s chaos nearby, there’s a fair chance I started it—or at least encouraged it.

Feel free to connect with Fliss on FetLife @FLISSTRESS. She used to do other socials but got banned for posting a pic of her fellow Domme Mistress Hunter touching a papaya.

Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts
presented by Sasori_D and SydneySubspace

Rough body play embraces some of our most primal instincts, to engage in impact with our whole being, from backhands, to punches, kicks, knees and even headbutts. Breaking the traditional spanking mould, rough body play redefines the rules of body based impact, exploring an approach to impact that emphasises a more intimate, primal connection that is versatile in nature and encompasses as much of the body as it can. In this class, Sasori shows the deliciously mean world of hitting people where it hurts, detailing a chaotic but risk informed approach to rough body play.

About Sasori_D: Best described as a “reaction fetishist” and sadomasochistic switch, Sasori has spent his kink journey exploring the various means upon which he can elicit yelps, moans, giggles and screams from those who are ensnared in his ropes. An eternal student, Sasori has travelled between the US, EU and Australian scenes expanding his repertoire with formal education and a plethora of diverse intensives; the result is a style of play that emphasizes connection, calculated risk, and jovial sadism within a chaotic and lighthearted package. In Australia, Sasori has begun the process of helping enhance the community through the various skills he picked up overseas, focusing on the chaotic joy he has embraced over his travels. He hopes to bring a unique and well rounded perspective and help others gain opportunities to explore and enjoy the various kinks he feels so delighted to have experienced.

Violet Wands
presented by Sir Water & ariellaD

Ever wanted to be zapped and set alight? Or explore that with someone else? Who knew both are possible in the same scene? The violent wand is an electrical toy that creates a static charge from a prosperous tube of gas. Think going to the science centre and touching that irresdent, glowing ball. Using the wand, a gentle charge connects with the skin. Responses might range from gasps to hysterical giggles. Even better, the wand can be used to ignite a vapour to create a warm flame tht rolls across the skin. Join Sir Water and ariellaD to learn how to create this joyful experience.
